John William Waterhouse - Paintings

Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures. (Henry Ward Beecher)

For, when with beauty we can virtue join, we paint the semblance of a form divine. (Maurice Maeterlinck )

John William Waterhouse (6 April 1849 — 10 February 1917) was an English Pre-Raphaelite painter most famous for his paintings of female characters from mythology and literature. He belonged to the later phase of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

He was born in Rome to the painters William and Isabela Waterhouse, but when he was five the family moved to South Kensington, near the newly founded Victoria and Albert Museum. He studied painting under his father before entering the Royal Academy schools in 1870. His early works were of classical themes in the spirit of Alma-Tadema and Frederic Leighton, and were exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Society of British Artists and the Dudley Gallery.

Forest Tranquility

Brilliant Greens and Deep Reds - This picture shows off the forest during a spring time storm.

I desire to be in the forest
A place that’s so serene and tranquil
To be Alone with Mother Nature
To observe the Maker of our world

I long to be in the forest
Gathering new energy from the wilderness
Rejuvenating my anguished heart
Letting my soul soar in the lofty tangerine sky like an eagle
~
I wish to be in the presence of Mother Earth
Hearing her gentle voice calling me
Hearing the call of the majestic eagle
Listening to the "ancient ones"whispering in the breeze
~
I’m in the solace of the colorful forest
Beneath the canopy of a picturesque sky
Where my heart and soul are at peace
And my spirit can soar the mountaintops with an eagle

Stay happy & fight for your dreams

Nudibranch

In this world that surrounds us
We sometimes brake down and fall
Those who stand above us
Can make us seem so small

We tremble under the weight
Of the problems that hold us down
And when we start to collapse
There seems to be no one around

We try to fight in this world
That always seems to fight back
Sometimes we’re not strong enough though
There are too many things we lack

We’ll hide away in corners
Put upon ourselves pain
But there’s no escape from this life
We all must suffer the same

But although we may struggle
And yes we all do fall
I’ll stand by your side
I’ll stay with you through it all

And if you start to tremble
Or even brake down
I’m your shoulder to cry on
I’ll always be around

We all have our faults
Are up and are downs
We cant always smile all the time
Everyone has to frown

No, no ones perfect
And no one is the same
We’re in this world together
We all play the same game

If we stick together
No matter whats to come
With a little faith and hope
Anything can be done

We all get those bad times
Each and every one of us
But I promise it will get better
Just don’t you give up

But when you feel like you want too
Please just remember this
You can die at any time
But it takes a strong person to live

Be strong & stay happy. Hugs, Shanti
