Autumn by John Najjar (my special friend from Australia)

Autumn leaves

A U T U M N

For nicobmb, whose beautiful videos inspired me to write this poem.

Everything fades,
Midnight autumn, stardust, moonlight, midnight autumn.
We journey through midnight autumn,
everything fades,
in this dance, this journey,
everything must fade in this autumn journey.

A rose booms, flowers,
then fades,
all things must journey to their completion.

Midnight starlight autumn dawn,
All things must fade;
each sunrise is birth, each sunset a death.
Midnight moonlight autumn journey.

All things must fade, and so we must too.

Midnight autumn, stardust, moonlight,
midnight autumn

We journey through midnight autumn,
in this dance, this journey;
so must we too.

Tell midnight, stardust, fading moon,
midnight autumn,
Does the heart deceive us?
Through secrets of the rain,
the storm inside us all.
Tell me midnight,
stardust fading moon,
does the heart deceive us?
Starlight midnight moon light
do nightmares tear the heart?

Starlight midnight fading moon,
Full moon.
All things pass away.
We step out this journey,
clothed by this bone bag
seeking our home,
seeking midnight starlight.

The world is wolf,
time eats us.
Midnight moonlight
autumn spring.
Inside this bone bag
made from the dust,
the dust of eons,
long dead stars.
We are stardust,
we seek our home,
the stars.

Inside us all is a hidden lantern,
a blazing sun.
We look towards
traitorous objects
searching for what we know
but do not know,

Darkness haunts us,
shadows stark us;
in our dreams we fly.
The world deceives us,
so does the sun, but, do our dreams?

Do our dreams desert us in the night?
do they?
The body deceives us and so does time,
but, Dona, do the winds laugh at us?
Do our dreams deceive us in the night?
Dona, due, through, endings, die.
Oh Dona do our dreams
desert us in the daylight?

Does the heart lie, as it leads us to our end?

Or does our heart show us the way,
the way home.
Each sunrise is a birth,
each sunset a death
each storm followed, flowered, towered
by a rainbow.

Midnight stardust fading moon
midnight autumn
evening dawn.
Midnight starlight
evening dawn;
midnight starlight
evening dawn.
